Sold! is Coming: Absurd Bidding

Sold! game preview showing party bidding gameplay

Something Different

If you’ve been following Amulet Games, you know Tilk and Numal are both word puzzle games. It’s at this point, I had a decision to make. Would I keep building word puzzle games or finally branch out and try something new?

Now, I’m not the biggest advocate for gathering around the living room and choosing a party game, but I do love a game night however I can get it. And every now and then, an idea tickles the brain in just the right way.

I’m happy to be surrounded by people who love game nights and Sold! is the result of inspiration meeting opportunity.

The Concept

Here’s how it works: a superlative goes up for auction. Something like “Most Likely to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse” or “Best at Pretending to Know Things.” Players use their unlimited budget to bid any amount of money. Then the top bidders argue their case in front of the auctioneer. It’s not just about who has the deepest pockets, but also the charm.

Each superlative is worth some amount of points, but in addition, each player is assigned a persona, which gives extra points to corresponding superlatives. Has the game told you you’re chaotic? Then you might want to bid on “Most likely to wake up with 10 extra dollars in their pocket.”

The catch? Whoever spent the most money by the end will lose. It’s a tight rope to walk between getting points and not overspending!

The money is fake but the arguments and laughter will be real!

Coming Soon

Sold! is still in development, but it’s getting close. We’re polishing the last bits of UI, finalizing the superlative list, and running one more round of playtesting (okay, maybe two more rounds).

When it launches, it’ll be available on Android and iOS, and only the host will have to make the one-time purchase. Keep an eye on our newsletter or socials for the announcement. We can’t wait to see what superlatives your friend group fights over.
